Reminds me of the best of Frank Capra's work. Good print and sound. One of my favorites on IA.
Thanks IA! Great find!

Good Movie...Worth Watching !
Nice film, solid B-Cast. Dean Jagger, Ward Bond, Anne Nagel...and, who could forget: BILL THE DOG !
I first remember seeing Anne Nagel in "The Green Hornet" Serial, "Black Friday", and "The Invisible Woman", and watched for her in other B-Flicks. I liked her very much. She was always good, had a great voice & pretty eyes...and died way too young,at the age of 50 from liver cancer.
This film could have been trimmed a bit, especially the "love" scenes, to tighten it up a notch. But still well worth your time.

cute mob flick awesome dog
What a great moral play. Not at all what I expected. This is one I'll share with my daughter. The scene with the dog tending to the chicks and carrying the wayward one back to the fold is to die for. Watching these hardboiled mugs transform into good guys and gal makes this film unique in its genre and like I said a contextual lesson for your youngsters under 10. Enjoy this mercifully short and unique pre wwii find!

I guess I'm just an old cornball because I enjoy these old B-movies. This one was especially entertaining. Jo was very good and played her transformation in a believable manner. All in all, worth watching.

Very nice movie; good storyline and the actors are great. The dog in this film is very well trained and a joy to watch. One of the best 'mob' films I've ever seen.

One of the better 1930 era films. Easy to watch and it moves along. Well acted although the plot is tried and true. Gets my vote.

Gangsters on the Farm
Dean Jagger follows the tradition of Humphrey Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, playing a gangster before moving to good-guy roles. For anyone who has spent just a little time on a farm, the transformation of SOME of the gangsters is very believable. The surprise ending begins to worry the viewer, but the end of the end is quite satisfying. And the dog survives.

Crooks are reformed by clean country air
A gang on the run hides out in a farmhouse where they pose as summer boarders. They eventually discover the joys of hard work, and turn their backs on their lives of crime. Romance blooms. Trouble comes when the boss of their gang tries to sabotage their new lives in an effort to get them back into the gang.
This movie has typical B movie acting. The leading man is particularly wooden. All in all it's a pretty dull picture. Nice scenes of rural California though.
